SynFit
SynFit — the fitness app we built, shipped, and keep growing ourselves.
Overview
SynFit is our own product, not client work — and that is exactly why it sits in this portfolio. Most fitness apps hand you a generic program and hope you stick with it. SynFit builds the program around you: your goal, your training level, and the equipment you actually have, whether that is a full gym or a corner of your living room. It then plans what you eat, turns that plan into a shopping list, and tracks whether you are showing up. We designed it, built it, shipped it to both stores, and we run it — so everything we tell clients about mobile, we have done ourselves, with our own money on the line.
Goal
We set out to build the app we would use: one place for training and nutrition, personalised enough to be worth opening every day, and fast enough that nothing gets in the way mid-set. The bar was a v1 good enough to survive App Store and Play Store review and stand next to apps with far bigger teams behind them.
Process
We started with the daily loop — open the app, see today's session, train, log it — and built outward from there. The exercise library came next, all 270+ movements with instructions, difficulty, and set-rep-tempo-rest guidance. Nutrition, shopping lists, and the ranking system were layered on once the training core felt right. Everything was tested on real devices in real gyms, because a workout timer that only works while you are looking at it is not a workout timer.
Technical approach
The parts users notice are the ones that were hardest to get right. The interval timer keeps running with audio coaching cues when the screen locks or you switch apps, and the active session surfaces on the lock screen as a Live Activity and in the Dynamic Island — so you can check your rest timer without unlocking. A home-screen widget shows the streak and today's plan at a glance. Behind that sits the plan generation, the macro and calorie maths, weight-trend charting, and shared shopping lists that sync between people cooking from the same plan. Both platforms ship from one product spec, and both went through store review and privacy declarations end to end.

Planning
We mapped the daily loop first — see today's session, train, log it — and cut v1 down to what a real user would open every day. Nutrition, shopping lists, and ranking were scoped as layers on top of a training core that had to work on its own.
Design
A dark, high-contrast interface designed for a gym floor: big touch targets, readable at arm's length, and one obvious action per screen. Every flow was checked on a real phone with sweaty hands before it was called done — not just in the design file.
Development
We built the plan generation, exercise library, and macro tracking, then went after the hard parts: a timer that survives a locked screen, Live Activity and Dynamic Island integration, a home-screen widget, and shopping lists that stay in sync across people.
Testing & release
Real-device QA across iPhone and Android, then TestFlight and internal testing rounds before submission. We prepared both store listings, screenshots, and privacy declarations, cleared review on both platforms, and have shipped updates since.
Building our own app changes how we build yours. We have argued with store reviewers, chased a background timer that died on lock, and shipped the update at 11pm — so when we scope your app, none of that is theory. 💪
